There are 3,000 cherry trees in Nakatsugawa, Gifu.
In 1877, Yamada Michisuke, who was a fourth-generation village headman, founded a brewery in Nakatsugawa. Its name, “Michizakura” ("Three Thousand Cherry Trees/Blossoms"), comes from his name, Michisuke.
We use our own fresh mountain water in our sake. To preserve the purity of that water, we maintain the forest exactly as it is, neither planting nor felling any trees. Our philosophy is to do our utmost to employ a brewing process we can be proud of.
We distribute our sake to a variety of shops throughout the country rather than having an exclusive contract with anyone.
If you’re interested, please feel welcome to come and visit us. We will do our best to deliver our sake to more people.
Thank you very much.
