Hazama Brewery is located at the 45th relay station of the 65-station Edo-era Nakasendo highway.

It started making sake in 1601, the year after Gifu's historical Battle of Sekigahara. It has been devoted to making delicious sake for 400 years.

With an idea to, “Spread the culture as widely as possible of enjoying a good saké with your food,” in 2016, the, “New chapter of Hazama Shuzou” began of using rice with no additives to make high-quality junmaishu (“saké made from rice with no added alcohol or sugar”). Our aim is to make sweet-but-refreshing Nihonshu. We continue to take on new challenges every day and strive for more than four hundred years to not only preserve our history and traditions, but also to spread the love of Nihonshu from Nakatsugawa to people the world over.
